When they reappear - example Delahaye 235 Chapron from the Baillon collection
We all remember the grandiose barn find auction in 2015, when Artcurial sold 59 vehicles from the Baillon collection for millions under the hammer.
At the time, we were amazed at how high the prices went.
Among the vehicles auctioned was a Delahaye 235 with a Chapron body from the early 1950s. Estimated at EUR 20,000 to 25,000 at the time, it was sold for EUR 100,000 (plus buyer's premium). Two restored cars of the same type sold for only slightly more money at Bonhams at the time. Two other barn-find Delahayes also changed hands for good money at the same Artcurial auction.
Now the car auctioned at the time (mentioned above) has reappeared in unchanged condition and Hervé Poulain from Artcurial will once again swing the hammer over it in February 2017. Even the photos are the same as in 2015. The estimated price is also the same as back then, the only question is whether the bidders want to pay a factor of 4 of the estimate as they did back then. And one naturally wonders why the seller is parting with the car again.
