A farewell forever - in memory of Klaus Wildbolz
Last Thursday, Jost (pictured right) had to say goodbye forever to his beloved twin brother Klaus (left). The brothers were not only united by their shared birthday of August 25, 1937, but also by their great, great passion: classic cars.
They spent their childhood in Austria and Switzerland. After training in economics, Klaus studied at the Reinhardt Seminar and then went into the theater. He performed in Lucerne, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Vienna and at the Salzburg Festival.
However, he made his big career in television. He hosted the ARD show "Schnick-Schnack". Later, he thrilled viewers in his role as director Wenzel Hofer in "Schlosshotel Orth". He was then seen again and again in TV series such as "Schwarzwaldklinik", "Traumschiff", "Der Bergdoktor" as well as in the crime series "Derrick" and also once in "Tatort".
He also appeared alongside Ava Gardner and Timothy Dalton in 1975 in "Vollmacht zum Mord". His last appearance in front of the camera was in 2014 in the film "Swiss Heroes", which won the Audience Award at the Locarno Film Festival.
His greatest hobby, however, has always been old cars. He shared this passion with his twin brother Jost. They also took part in numerous rallies together. Not always together in the same car, but often in completely different vehicles. While Jost skillfully steered the venomous Cortina Lotus through the bends on the Gaisberg, Klaus cruised through the countryside in the Riley Sprite at a more leisurely pace. He enjoyed the freedom and recharged his batteries for his next gigs.
Only occasionally did they share a car, such as the 1957 Austin A35 RDR at the Ennstal-Classic in 2008.
Unfortunately, Klaus' engine stopped for good on the 79th lap, but his brother Jost will continue to do him proud with his Cooper S and Klaus will remain immortal in the memories of his friends and fans thanks to his numerous films.
