Perfect lips without a vanity mirror in the sun visor? The Maserati 450S from 1957 is very spartanly equipped. It lacks any comfort. It is a pure driving machine, or even better, a racing machine.
Nevertheless, the driver sat perfectly styled in the cockpit and waited for the Melbourne Grand Prix circuit to clear. At the Shannon Historic Demonstration in Australia, it was very pleasing to see that not only stone-aged men squeezed into the historic cockpits, but also some young lads driving the cars of their fathers or grandfathers. It was particularly pleasing to see some female drivers in the cars. Not all of them were as perfectly styled as this "model", where everything really did fit.
I hope that the tendency to see more female and young drivers in historic cars will not only increase in "Down-Under", but will also be seen more often in Europe in the future. Unfortunately, smartphones and games are becoming increasingly important among young people, while the automobile is losing importance. Let's try more and more together to make our hobby appealing to future generations.
