Windshield wiper for the headlights
03/26/2015
In 1970, the car manufacturer Saab introduced windshield wipers for the headlights to increase the light output in poor weather conditions. The small wipers soon became a popular feature in the luxury class and were seen on many BMW and Mercedes models.
But progress did not stop there and the increasingly aerodynamically designed lights could soon no longer be cleaned easily (and economically) with windshield wipers, so more and more high-pressure pumps and spraying devices took over the cleaning of the headlights.
And so the Saab invention disappeared from the automotive industry after just two decades.
Perhaps in the future there will be a separate class in a Concours d'Elégance dedicated to headlight wiper cars?
