Like son, like father - Daniel Ricciardo's family
03/15/2015
Australian F1 shooting star Daniel Ricciardo (born July 1, 1989) from Perth is the third successful Formula 1 driver from "Down-Under" after Jack Brabham, Alain Jones and Mark Webber.
He started his F1 career at HRT in 2011 and switched to Red Bull via Toro Rosso last season, where he defied all expectations to beat Sebastian Vettel and take three wins.
His father Joey Ricciardo is a classic car enthusiast and, like his son, competed in today's Australian GP in Melbourne, albeit in a one-off car from Italy.
Peter Bell made his beautiful De Tomaso F2 from 1969 available to him. A car with a great history.
The monoposto was driven by Jonathan Williams to ninth place in his very first race in Monza in 1969. This was later followed by a tenth place in Langenlebern.
Jacky Ickx started from fifth on the grid with the De Tomaso in Enna in the same year and was running in fourth place for thirty laps when a broken crankshaft and a hole in the block forced him to retire.
In the fall of 1969, De Tomaso and Frank Williams began working together. The trigger for this was the F2 race in Vallelunga, in which Piers Courage brought this De Tomaso F2 to the start, secured second position in practice and fought for the lead in the race with Servoz Gavin until he finally spun and was finally waved off in third place.
No wonder the whole family enjoyed Joeys' demonstration run in the red De Tomaso.
