Classic pearls of the future - Opel Kadett E GSI
08/06/2014
Opel built the Kadett E series from 1984 to 1993, i.e. for nine years. This was the last "Kadett", as its successor was already called the Astra. Of course, there was also another sporty top model called "GSI".
The fast model was an aerodynamic artist; in fact, the drag coefficient of the optimized body was only 0.30 cw.
The GSI was initially equipped with 1.8-liter and later 2.0-liter engines, which were always fuel-injected. In 1988, the engine was upgraded from two to four valves per cylinder, giving the GSI 16 150 hp instead of the previous 115 hp
The sporty Kadett was lowered and could also be ordered with upscale equipment elements. It was available in two and four-door versions, always with a tailgate.
The number of surviving models has steadily decreased in recent years, and original and well-preserved vehicles are already difficult to find.
Of course, the Kadett E GSI didn't quite have the nimbus of the earlier C GT/E, but it was a good car that was a lot of fun to drive. This should ensure its classic status in the future.
