Forgotten sports cars - announced but never produced
We have just published the technical data of vehicles from 1982, 1984, ..., up to 1992 . As in the past, the extremely detailed digitized catalogs of Automobil Revue formed the basis for this publication. Over 7,000 different cars were documented, including some that we hardly remember because they never went into production.
There is the Nissan MID 4, which was announced in 1986 as a mid-engined coupé with a three-liter V6 and 230 hp. The specification reads like a cross between a Ferrari 308 GTB and a Honda NSX, and the car's looks would certainly have won over many a Nissan buyer.
And then there was the Audi Avus, which was presented as a new model with a W-12 mid-engine and active steering rear axle in Tokyo in 1991. This rounded R8 predecessor did not make it into series production either.
The same happened to the Iso Rivolta Grifo, which appears in the technical data for 1992, or the Monteverdi hai 650 F1 in the same year. And that's not the end of the list, but we don't want to steal the joy of discovery from our readers.
The best place to start is on the technical data overview page ....
