Historic motorsport at its best at the Bosch Hockenheim Historic 2012
On April 13-15, 2012, the Bosch Hockenheim Historic, subtitled "The Jim Clark Revival", will once again attract historic racing cars and spectators from all over the world. Racing cars from past decades compete against each other in various racing series and classes and recall many a glorious era of fast locomotion. As in previous years, the Bosch Hockenheim Historic is once again extremely public-friendly. The paddock is once again open to all visitors and motorsport fans can experience the preparations and repairs in the pits up close.
The Dutch will be back with their fast sports and touring cars
The Dutch historic competition for touring cars and GT cars built between 1947 and 1965 will be back again, with vehicles such as the roaring Chevrolet Corvette and Bizzarrini racing alongside compact racing cars such as the MG A, Marcos, Alpine A110 or Lotus Elan and Cortina. A feast for the eyes and ears (picture above).
Younger cars from the seventies and eighties compete in the "Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge": Sunbeam Lotus, Renault Alpine A310, BMW M1, Lotus Esprit, BMW 635 CSI, Porsche 944, Rover SD1 and many other youngtimers already delivered thrilling motorsport with beautifully prepared vehicles last year.
Race History on Track
Fans of the monopostos of days gone by will look forward to the moving museum of "Race History on Track". The spectrum of vehicles ranges from the F1 Ferrari 500 (built in 1952) by Alberto Ascari, Maserati 250 F by Stirling Moss and the F1 Cooper T53 (built in 1961) by John Surtees to modern Formula 1 cars. Formula 2/3, F3000 and F5000 vehicles round off the colorful spectrum.
Historic Formula 1 cars in direct combat
While the "Race History on Track" is a show race, the competitors in the FIA Historic Formula One will be engaging in real duels on the track. Here, older and newer Formula One cars such as the Tyrell 001, the Brabham BT49 or the McLaren MP4 can be observed at the limit, vehicles that we saw racing for world championship titles a few years ago. Other formula cars can also be seen in the Boss GP series and the "European Formula 2 Club".
Action at the Formula Junior
The Formula Junior races in the "FIA Lurani Trophy" usually provide exciting duels and thrilling motorsport. Formula Junior was the first historic racing class to be revived back in 1975 and has remained popular to this day.
Battle of the midgets
Very popular with the public are the dwarves who let off steam on the race track in the "Battle of the Dwarves". Whether Mini Cooper, NSU TT, DKW Junior, Abarth OT/SS/TC, Autobianchi A-112 or Fiat 127, the little ones show big motorsport.
Fast two-seaters
The "Martini Trophy Series", which pits small two-seater sports cars built up to 1978, which are normally equipped with two-liter engines, against each other, will be on show in Hockenheim for the first time.
Even faster sports cars can be seen in the "SuperSports Club" and especially in the "Canadian-American Challenge Cup", when former CanAm cars and endurance racers start their high-displacement engines.
Stefan Bellof tribute
As part of the overall event, the "Stefan Bellof Tribute", organized by Thomas Guthmann, commemorates Bellof's great victory at the Motodrom 30 years ago, as well as the great German racing driver as a whole. Among other things, the exhibition shows the Maurer Formula 2, with which Bellof's lightning career began.
