Improved and simplified navigation in the journal and facsimile archive
The Zwischengas archive has grown steadily over the last few months and we currently have well over 250,000 facsimile pages. In order to optimize navigation in these archives, we have introduced a new toolbar, which from now on will always be used and will not change its shape, regardless of the size and display format of the facsimile pages shown.
Control is via buttons with pictograms. Black or red buttons can be pressed, while gray buttons are inactive. An information box always appears to explain the function when the mouse is moved over a button.
When using the scroll function for individual pages, a small view of the next page to be displayed is already shown.
Individual facsimile pages (e.g. a specific journal page) or page overviews (normally 48 journal pages or the title pages of a year together) can also be displayed. These can be scrolled forwards and backwards using the buttons on the left. In the case of magazine overviews, it is also possible to scroll to the first or last overview page.
While the four buttons on the left are reserved for browsing, the buttons on the right can be used to control the display. The button with the book pictogram downloads the PDF version of a facsimile, the second button can be used to switch between the 500 pixel narrow and 800 pixel wide display, while the magnifying glass button switches the magnifying glass on or off.
The button on the far right is used to select the overview page, on which up to 48 pages are displayed in small format so that you can quickly jump to a relevant page. The red color indicates which display mode you are in.
Another new feature is the ability to jump directly to a specific magazine page. So if you know that you are looking for an article in the AR-Zeitung (Automobil Revue) or ADAC Motorwelt number 12, page 15, you can enter this information directly in the top right-hand corner and click on "ok". If the page is not found, this is acknowledged with an error message.
