Miura, but not from Lamborghini
02/15/2012
When we hear "Miura", we immediately think of the bull from Italy, the mid-engined sports car from Lamborghini. But there was another Miura and it was built in Brazil. At the end of the 1970s and into the 1980s, a plastic coupé was built on the basis of Volkswagen technology, which impressed with its sporty design and maintenance-friendly technology .
The Miura MTS was available in 1.3, 1.6 and 1.8-liter versions, with or without a Targa roof. The technical description "central tubular frame, forked at the rear, with platform for body floor, double wishbones at the front with transverse torsion bar springs, independent rear suspension with swing axle, trailing arms and transverse torsion bar springs, ..." clearly points to the VW Beetle parts shelf and was probably no longer really "state of the art" at the beginning of the 1980s .
After all, the coupé with the most powerful engine (from the Brazilian Passat) is said to have reached 180 km/h. Was one of these vehicles ever sold in our latitudes? And the Miura should not be confused with the Farus ML 929, although there is no denying the striking similarity. But we'll come back to the Farus another time .
