Daimler-Benz AG is turning 100! On June 28, 1926, the executive boards of Benz & Cie. in Mannheim and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim signed the merger agreement. Just a few days later, on July 1, 1926, the newly founded Daimler-Benz AG officially began operations. This marked the birth of a company that would have a decisive influence on the history of the automobile for decades to come.
The anniversary also marks the union of the world's two oldest automobile manufacturers. The ideas of Carl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler, and Wilhelm Maybach gave rise to vehicles that repeatedly set technical milestones: from the first passenger car to legendary supercharged sports cars, all the way to the Silver Arrows and the grand luxury sedans bearing the star on their hoods.
