Once upon a time there were ... traditional headlights with diffusing disk
It was omnipresent. Cars from the sixties to the nineties concealed their halogen bulbs behind a lens. And from the 1920s onwards, they were increasingly seen on headlights.
These lenses were needed to distribute the light produced by the bulb in such a way that more illumination was possible at the edge of the vehicle and oncoming traffic was dazzled as little as possible.
Then came projection headlights, xenon and finally LED lamps, and laser light was also introduced. The diffusing lens thus became obsolete, but the new lighting systems gave car designers much greater freedom.
Today, headlights with diffusing lenses look really nostalgic, their slightly yellowish light now really stands out against the background of modern headlight systems.
