Driving can be fun even in simple cars
We’ve pondered the topic of “driving fun” before and tried to show that the definition of driving fun is quite subjective. While one person might find a Citroën 2 CV a lot of fun to drive, another might only get that same thrill from a fast supercar.
But we saw once again just the other day that it really doesn’t take much to have a lot of fun behind the wheel, when we featured a little orange compact car.
The 1974 Honda Z600 boasts a displacement of just 0.6 liters and 36 SAE PS, but it’s truly a joy to drive. The driving fun stems from the incredibly agile nature of this four-seater, which is just 3.12 meters long, combined with a rev-happy (air-cooled) two-cylinder engine that sounds great. A fully equipped dashboard, direct steering, and, of course, an ultra-low weight of less than 600 kg make driving this little Japanese car a real joy. And best of all, the crowd lining the roadside enjoys it too.
