A Mustang? No, an Infiniti M30
At first glance, it’s quite easy to mistake an open-top Infiniti M30 for a Fox-body-generation Ford Mustang convertible (from 1979 onward), unless you look too closely at the front end, which is more reminiscent of the Ford Taurus.
In this country, this early Infiniti model is virtually unknown. The M30 was produced from 1989 to 1992; it wasn’t until the 1991 model year that it became available as a convertible, which was converted into an open-top sports car in collaboration with American Sunroof Corporate (ASC). However, the convertible version had already been announced during the first Infiniti presentations in late 1988.
Equipped with a three-row V6 engine featuring 24 valves, the M30 was based on the Japanese Nissan Leopard (F31) series and was part of the core lineup of Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury brand, which was also newly introduced in 1989.
