Coupé or convertible? It depends ... (Question of the week)
Once upon a time, practically all cars were open-top, while the closed versions were expensive and rare. Today it's the other way around, and the mood has changed time and again in between. For many classic car buyers, it is clear from the outset whether their dream car should be a convertible, a coupé or a saloon. But what do Zwischengas readers think?
We wanted to find out with a " question of the month" . The question was: Do you prefer a closed classic (coupé, saloon) to an open classic/youngtimer (convertible, spider, roadster, barchetta)?
The answer is less black and white than one might have expected. In fact, 63% of the readers who responded (a total of over 370 took part in the survey) see themselves practically on the same level in terms of design. Depending on the car model, they sometimes opt for the closed or open variant.
19.5% have a clear preference for closed cars, as they see design and weather protection as an advantage.
For 16.8%, on the other hand, only open-top classics come into question, because only then is maximum driving pleasure possible for them.
0.8% were unable to answer any of the questions given.
So it is not a case of either-or, but rather a case-by-case preference.
