One of the most beautiful days
10/19/2024
The "International Edelweiss Mountain Prize Roßfeld Berchtesgaden 2024" also impressed the "old hands" of mountain racing. Here's what a few of the prominent drivers remember about their stay in Berchtesgaden:
Hans-Joachim Stuck:
As the motto of the "International Edelweiss Mountain Prize Roßfeld Berchtesgaden 2024" was "the cars of the Stuck family", Hans-Joachim "Strietzel" Stuck was also one of the most requested for autographs and photos. And he left no doubt as to what days like these mean to him: "Whenever I get to drive the Union Type C car - and that happens three or four times a year - it's one of the best days ever for me. When I get in and know that my dad was sitting in it - that's a special feeling. Even with his glasses and gloves. The greatest thing is that you realize in this car what heroes the drivers were back then. Driving this thing on the Avus 400 was crazy - just as crazy as we are today! The rain on Saturday was also great, because we could drift beautifully. The sound of the car - just awesome! I really like doing these trips. And you meet up with lots of old colleagues. And all this close to home, that's quite an experience."
Prince Leopold of Bavaria:
"Prince Poldi" referred to his family's personal relationship with Berchtesgaden through the Royal Castle. "I love the mountains, I've been here many times. I'm glad that the weather was so good on Sunday. I've raced on the Roßfeld before, but I'm thrilled with the crowd. What I like is that more and more younger people are interested in the history and get a lot from their parents."
Rudolf Lins:
"Simply great," said former European Hillclimb Champion Rudi Lins of the reunion with his Porsche Carrera 6. "I really felt transported back to the sixties. The road is still the same. It was just great fun." And the Vorarlberg native is still in good shape, as he confirms: "I drive classic cars all the time, so I don't have to get used to it. And I'm always delighted by the huge interest people show in our vehicles, even in bad weather."
The only other thing worth mentioning here is the overall classification of the regularity test:
1st place: Porsche Carrera 6 (no. 86), driven by Rudi Lins
2nd place: BMW 700 RS (no. 86). 2nd place: BMW 700 RS (No. 85) from the May-Collection
3rd place: Melkus Formula Junior type 3rd place: Melkus Formula Junior Type 59 (No. 47), driven by Jürgen Rädlein
