Decision-making in the race car

What does Formula 1's most sought-after constructor actually do in his spare time? He flies comfortably from Miami to Monte Carlo and drives his Lotus 49 in the Grand Prix Historique!
The car designed by Colin Chapman was driven by Graham Hill in New Zealand and Australia in the Tasman Series in 1969 before the start of the Formula 1 season. Richard Attwood then took fourth place in the "premier class" in Monte Carlo. Graham Hill - the cars were still being swapped around back then - drove the same Lotus 49 to seventh place at Silverstone.
Its current owner Adrian Newey is currently one of the most sought-after men in Formula 1. Since he has parted company with Red Bull, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes are vying for the technical genius. But before he makes a decision, he took his time at the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco. Did he have enough time to think? Newey followed Attwood's example 55 years later: he also finished fourth in the class for formula cars from 1966 to '72.
We will be publishing a full report from the Grand Prix Historique de Monaco in the coming days.
