Duck hunting in California

A few months ago, we told you about the two Citroën ID 19s that took part in a Nascar race in the USA in 1958 and did surprisingly well. Now we have accidentally discovered in an old issue of Road & Track that the Americans were already using French double-angled cars in motorsport two years earlier. In February 1956, a Belgian-built Citroën 2 CV took a spectacular turn at the California Sports Car Club (CSCC) races in Palm Springs.
Unfortunately, we were unable to find out quickly who the driver was or how many places he achieved with the swaying 12.5 hp car. Presumably he was competing in the class for saloons up to 1500 cm3, where things got particularly heated in the opening race. However, the first three places were taken by a Renault, a Volvo and a Borgward. At least the starting number 209 is clearly visible on the back of the duck. Now we just need an old list of participants...
