The Citroën Méhari in the eyes of the advertising photographers of the time
Between 1968 and 1987, Citroën built almost 145,000 "Méhari" off-road/leisure vehicles. Based on the 2CV with a plastic body, the cars were light and maneuverable.
The Citroën marketing people came up with a number of ideas for the launch, including presenting the buggy alternative for various purposes in pictures and coming up with some rather outlandish ideas. For example, the little Citroën was shown in various photos as a golf car, ...
... as an emergency vehicle, ...
... as a safari vehicle, as a hay transporter, as a beach car ...
...or as a hippie mobile (see picture above).
