Cobra "renewal" around Goodwood
09/22/2012
A year ago, we reported on the "total loss" of the Cobra driven by Gerhard Berger at the Goodwood Revival.
The car was rebuilt over the past twelve months and was back on the grid this year (picture above).
In the field of the "Cobra Cup", a tribute to Carrol Shelby, it drove a few laps before it stopped with a technical defect!
Martin Brundle lost his "snake" a little later and crashed into the parked ex-Berger car. Martin Brundle commented: "It was a clear mistake by the marshals who left the car where it was".
This accident meant that the poor owner had to lug home another accident this year. So he never runs out of work and the car has to be replaced every year! At least this time he can devote himself to the rear instead of the front ...
One of Earl of March's jokes from last year, addressed to the owner of the Cobra that Berger crashed into the wall, sticks in the memory: "I personally invited you and asked you to show your car here, so I can't charge you for the wall".
