Cobra race in memory of Carroll Shelby
09/16/2012
The Shelby Cup race at the 2012 Goodwood Revival would certainly have been to Carroll Shelby 's taste.
29 AC Cobras, all equipped with the 4.7-liter engine (289cc), including an extremely rare Cobra Daytona Coupé, battled for the honor of being the fastest Cobra.
A whole host of prominent drivers had been signed up, including Brian Redman, Henri Pescarolo, Jochen Mass, Martin Brundle and Richard Atwood.
And the boys really stepped on the gas, leaving nothing to chance. The spectacle lasted 45 minutes and the driver change was obligatory.
The field had already been reduced in training, and various technical faults in the race called for further tasks.
The audience was thrilled by the spirited drifting Cobras and the inimitable soundscape.
We will provide more information about the Goodwood Revival 2012 in a comprehensive report in the near future.
