In the past, it wasn't just cars that were different, but also the measurement criteria and methods used in car tests. Who would think of measuring a vehicle's climbing ability today? Determining fuel consumption at constant speeds is also a thing of the past.
However, noise levels are still measured today, but hardly with an instrument as robust as the one shown above. The time-honored measuring device, which cannot really be described as handy, weighed several kilograms and still only had limited capabilities. It must have been difficult to misplace or forget the device ...
