Zuffenhausen's Sahara dust

Super sports cars are soaring, not only in terms of price, but also in terms of ground clearance. On the way back to Switzerland from the "Retro Classics Bavaria" in Nuremberg, we had a different kind of encounter. Although there was neither a sandstorm nor heavy dunes to contend with on the highway near Sindelfingen and only light rain kept the road wet, I was overtaken by a car from the Paris-Dakar Rally. The new 911 Dakar, limited to 2500 units, is reminiscent of Porsche 's first overall victory in the 1984 rally with René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne and also marked the beginning of all-wheel drive at Porsche.
The paintwork is probably the only historic-looking element on this car. The starting number can be chosen by the customer and the inscription "Roughroads", which is of course intended to recall the cigarette sponsor of the time, is a term protected by Porsche.
The Dakar version is 50 mm higher than the normal Carrera and can increase its ground clearance by a further 30 mm to cope with extreme terrain situations. Nevertheless, you can still cruise along the highway at 170 km/h on the highest setting. The Dakar is powered by the 3.0-liter biturbo boxer six-cylinder engine, which delivers a good 487 hp and allows the car to crack the 100 km/h mark after just 3.4 seconds.
With an increased rear load, the Coupé enables the driver to steer precisely on gravel and scree..... whoever likes to race around on such terrain in a car costing around 300,000 euros. If the Porsche "Roughroads" is still not enough for you, you can also opt for a Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato "Offroad".
Neither Ferruccio Lamborghini nor Enzo Ferrari would ever have imagined that their Miura or Daytona would also have to be suitable for off-roading ...
