The special memory of a VW 1500

Sometimes historical articles also bring back personal memories. But when an Axel Kranz wrote to us and commented on an article about the VW 1500, we naturally pricked up our ears. In fact, Axel Kranz is the son of Heinz Kranz, who published the test report "VW 1500 shows what it can do" in Hobby issue 12/1961.
His son Axel took part in this test drive in Ticino and there is even a surviving photo showing the Kranz family with the VW 1500 on the summit of the San Bernadino. The license plate (S-MT469) matches the test car. Hobby readers were not granted this picture back then, but now Zwischengas readers get to see it over 60 years later.
