Meetings of like-minded people are strictly prohibited!
Who would have thought a year and a half ago that suddenly people would simply no longer be allowed to meet, that they would have to avoid each other and that even accreditation would prevent like-minded people from meeting. In Monaco, the paddock and the pit lane were hermetically sealed off. Like in a prison camp, the big players sat behind fences and there was no chance of getting close to them from the outside.
It was absolutely impossible to exchange words. All "just" for fear of Covid infection. I would have loved to have met my old friend Jean Alesi in person again after a long time, but I only saw him driving past during the whole three days. Somehow this situation is frustrating and also extremely work-inhibiting for journalistic activities. With a few exciting sound bites and quotes, the whole Monaco story would certainly have been much more exciting, but we are all pulling on the same rope and have to adhere to all the new rules so that hopefully everything will return to normal as quickly as possible.
