Nowadays, thanks to digitalization, there are hardly any limits. Images can and must be given no credence whatsoever. For example, our Austrian colleagues recently came across a very funny story in Austro Classic magazine 1/2021 from the Morgan Sports Car Club Austria.
The picture with the running hen immediately catches the eye and naturally attracts the attention of animal rights activists. Of course, even as a layman you can guess the photomontage and as a Photoshop user you can recognize it very quickly, but the first glance is of course decisive. A publication in this day and age quickly triggers one of these modern, so-called "shitstorms". It remained small here, but it still makes you smile.
One reader commented: "I was somewhat irritated by the photo you posted in the AC, where a poor chicken is running for its life. This strange Morgan driver seems to be enjoying it too. Well, it's a matter of character if you brag about it with a photo."
Austro-Classic: "I admit that the photo may irritate an animal lover at first glance. However, I can say that this is not the work of a paranoid animal abuser but of a skilled graphic artist."
As is usually the case, a closer look and a few thoughts are worthwhile.
You can rest assured that no chicken has been harmed or is now laying its eggs without feathers in the form of a Morgan cooler out of sheer shock. The chicken was added to the photo by our club friend, who is an expert with graphics programs. Incidentally, this is easy to recognize if you look carefully. See, for example, the missing shadow of the chicken on the asphalt, because it probably won't be racing at faster-than-light speed after all. And why would it come from behind and run diagonally into the direction of travel? Not even a chicken is that stupid.
