No longer for little boys!
04/02/2021
Can you still remember how, as a little boy (girls hardly ever did this even then), you pressed your nose against the side window of a car to see how fast it was going? The highest number on the speedometer was accepted as the maximum speed and anyone who could guess that it was 200 km/h was a king among cars. Dad's Beetle unfortunately only reached 120 km/h, but some limousines at least had a 160 on the speedometer.
And today? There are several problems. Firstly, fewer youngsters are interested in the top speed of cars, secondly, more and more cars are built so high that a three-year-old can barely see over the edge of the windshield and thirdly, more and more often you can't see anything at all, even if you can peer into the cockpit. This is because the displays are dark when the car is stationary and even if they did show something, it would probably be the speed of 0 km/h.
It's a sad new world, because the youngsters are missing out on what used to be a fun and exciting game.
