The Raptor, which is based on the Lamborghini Diablo VT, was built by Zagato in collaboration with Lamborghini as a concept car. The futuristic design was created under the direction of the chief designer at the time, Nori Harada. Like the "Canto" model that was also planned, the Raptor did not make it into series production and remained a one-off. The Raptor made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996 and caused quite a stir with its futuristic appearance and the unusual lifting roof, which opened up the cockpit instead of doors. Previously, similar roof designs had only been seen in kit cars with VW Beetle technology (for example in the Nova, Sterling and their derivatives) and in 2006 in Saab's Aero-X Concept.
