Faster on the road in winter

The weather is supposed to get wintry again. We recently noticed an interesting "announcement" about this.
Today we are used to driving fast even in winter in good conditions, where the law and the road permit. But it wasn't so long ago that winter tires were limited to a maximum of 160 km/h. It was not until 1979 that Michelin proudly announced: The first winter tire up to 210 km/h. However, the TRX M+S was not suitable for everyone, as it required special rims and was only available in a limited range of dimensions. However, as a Mustang or Saab driver, you could (almost) go full throttle on the highway even in winter from 1979 onwards ...
P.S. The advertising from back then was quite plain and almost looked like a normal article, but at least it was clearly marked with a Michelin brand logo. Today we speak of "sponsored content" in this context and the logo would perhaps even be barely visible ...
