(Almost) forgotten unique pieces
02/07/2021
Would you have recognized this interesting coupé? It lacks any typical brand recognition marks. It is a one-off called the BMW Hurrican, which began in 1965 when, at the age of 22, Swiss-born Max Seelaus got together with seven fellow students at the Pfälzische Meisterschule der Handwerker Kaiserslautern to identify a suitable graduation topic for their diploma in the specialist department for bodywork and vehicle construction. The eight boys decided to build a car and BMW provided the chassis and drive unit of a BMW 1800. However, it was some time before the coupé was finished in its current state and hopes of series production had long since been dashed.
And like so many one-offs, the car was (almost) forgotten. Thousands of such one-offs have been produced throughout the history of the automobile, so why collect a few from our archive and offer them up for recognition as part of a car connoisseur quiz?
No sooner said than done. We have compiled ten interesting vehicles from around 20 years of automobile construction.
Now it's up to you to recognize the vehicles! Do you want to give it a try? Click here for the new car connoisseur quiz 105 "One-offs " .
