Ahead of its time

How old would you have classified this vehicle? 20, 30, 35 years old? Wrong. This compact two-door car was launched at the end of 1970, so it is already over 50 years old, half a century old.
It is an electrically powered Nissan. Even back then, the electric car was seen as a solution to the alarming concentrations of air pollutants and increasing noise in large cities. Because range was already an issue back then, electric mobility was mainly seen as a solution in urban areas. In addition, the focus was on small vehicles that required little parking space and could also be light and economical.
The Nissan was just 2.41 meters long, weighed around 600 kg and had a range of 90 km if you were content with a cruising speed of 40 km/h. In an "emergency", however, the car could also travel at 60 km/h. Two batteries were enough for the small electric car presented at the Tokyo Motor Show, which Nissan wanted to bring onto the market within three years. Not much is likely to have come of it.
