The other (unknown) Interceptor from Jensen

The Jensen Interceptor is known as one of the most luxurious GT vehicles produced in the UK. It was built from 1966 to 1976, and with 6408 vehicles produced, it was quite successful, not least thanks to its Italian design.
There had already been a post-war Jensen with this name in the 1950s, but only 88 of them were produced.
At the 1965 London Motor Show (pictured above), Jensen again presented an Interceptor, a prototype of an open-top car designed by Eric Neale. Built with an aluminum body and tubular steel platform, it was technically in line with the conventions of the time, together with the Chrysler V8, and was to cause a sensation, especially in America.
Although the car was warmly received, the design seemed somewhat old-fashioned, which probably prompted the Jensen managers to look for an alternative, despite the sales literature already in print. The alternative then had Italian features and became a success for Jensen.
Of the two original Interceptor cars built in 1965, one is said to have survived while the other was dismantled.
