Anniversary Ennstal-Classic - everything is ready!
07/20/2017
In the small Austrian municipality of Gröbming, we started a small rally over the Sölk Pass and back with 35 cars in 1993. Walter Röhrl and his red Austin Healey were the first winners of the Ennstal-Classic . This was followed by 23 more and this weekend the 25th winner will be crowned.
The small, then relatively unknown community of Gröbming, just 20km from Schladming, has become the home of many of the world's motorsport greats over the years.
Whether it was Derek Bell (as pictured in the Bentley), Stirling Moss, John Surtees, Nigel Mansell, Mario Andretti, Niki Lauda or Sebastian Vettel, they have all been here and got to know and appreciate this idyllic little community personally.
Helmut Zwickl and Michael Glöckner are the two great creators of this wonderful rally with the slogan: "Driving in the last paradise". Paradise is not only the landscape that is driven through, paradisiacal is also the enthusiasm and above all the acceptance of the local population. A place in a state of emergency and everyone is happy: where else can you find something like this?
The schoolchildren realized their very personal impressions of the Ennstal-Classic in drawings. These children only know the first winner from their parents' stories, as they had not even seen the light of day 25 years ago.
The village pharmacy has the right medication for the participants for every day of the anniversary. The right sun cream on Thursday, magnesium effervescent tablets on Friday and an anti-age fluid for Saturday after the tough 850 km......
The weather is fine, the 220 cars are covered and checked, the drivers and co-drivers are already well prepared, so everything is ready and nothing stands in the way of the start of the 25th Ennstal-Classic. Let`s go!
