What has hardly changed at the Geneva Motor Show in the last fifty years
03/10/2017
Anyone visiting the Geneva International Motor Show (Geneva International Motor Show, 9 to 19 March 2017) these days (or taking a closer look at the more than 200 images in our report on this year's 87th edition on Zwischengas ) will realize that a lot has happened in 50 years since 1967. The Monteverdi stand, which is an oasis of calm and nostalgia for the brand's 50th anniversary in Geneva, builds the bridge.
Even if the concept cars and stands of 2017 look very different to those of 1967, there are things that have hardly changed.
It is best to visit Hall 7 to verify this surprising insight. This is where service providers and product suppliers for the garage trade exhibit their products.
And there you will also find complete car wash systems, which are obviously intended to speak for themselves.
It was no different in 1967.
There are even still the same manufacturers, e.g. Christ, who offered similar products 50 years ago as they do today! And the equipment is not fundamentally different from today.
The situation is similar with the tire companies, although in the modern era they have moved into the main hall between the shiny new cars.
Although Yokohama did not yet exist on the local market back then, suppliers such as Pirelli were already on the market. And in 1967, as in 2017, the beautiful black tires are placed on the stand, albeit much better illuminated today and usually complemented by a racing car or a super sports car and presented in the best light by friendly smiling girls.
We will be reporting in detail on the 1967 Geneva Motor Show over the next few days.
