Make dreams come true ...
05/06/2015
The advertising illustration shown here is clearly from a different era, but even more so is the text that the Opel marketing people wrote to accompany it:
"Make your dream come true. The new Manta is.
Dream what makes you happy. The fact is, however, that nobody in the world looks so dazzling that they couldn't do with a little help from the racy look of the new Opel Manta. It already looks faster in 2nd gear on the Rue Grimaldi than some others are in 5th gear. In other words: it suits you. Not only with its neat appearance, but also with the temperament of its 105 hp fuel-injected engine. And with its sense of economy: if you were able to drive the 100 km between St. Tropez and Monte Carlo according to the German industry standard, it would only consume 8.7 liters of Super. That leaves you with enough pocket money to stock up on 20 franc jetons in the casino's Salle privee. "Faites votre jeu." And share your joy, because that doubles it: The new Opel Manta has more room for your passenger's long, beautiful legs than you'd expect in a sports car. (And the TÜV allows Manta drivers to have 4 female passengers!) You can respond to hesitant ladies in a suave manner: "Don't worry about your safety, Mademoiselle, the new Manta has a fully integrated, solid roll bar!" They will trust you. Just as they trust your car. After all, it bears a special quality mark: A circle around a lightning bolt. Wears it with pride."
Truly enchanting and so wonderfully nostalgic, there's nothing more to say. Except, of course, that for the sake of completeness, all the advertising from back then is still shown here and that it can of course also be found in large format, together with many others, in the picture archive on Zwischengas on the subject of advertising .
