Past and future on the Grossglockner
The Mercedes-Benz SSK 720 from 1929 was the oldest participant in this year's Saalbach Classic. Seconds later, a camouflaged SUV followed it as a quantum leap and 84 years younger and came shooting around the bend.
It was a car with Munich license plates that will probably not go on sale until 2014. Was it a new BMW, or maybe not? In the end, the newcomer didn't just pass by once. No, the whole morning was spent testing on the steep Grossglockner road. Naturally an ideal training ground for an SUV, whether BMW or not! And who knows, maybe in thirty years' time we'll be reporting on this still camouflaged car when it's a classic car.
Back to the past: We have reported on the Saalbach Classic in detail and with many photos.
