Like a Hitchcock thriller, thrilling to the end - the Ennstal-Classic 2012
As exciting as a Hitchcock thriller! The 20th Ennstal-Classic will only be decided in the last few meters today by four light barriers on a 1.4 km route. Never before have the distances been as close as this year. Converted just 27 cm separate the first from the second and this after hundreds of kilometers of driving. Breathtaking!
Yesterday's Friday Orange Marathon may not go down in history as the longest, but according to Dieter Quester it was probably the most difficult and certainly the most strenuous, especially for the open-top vehicles. The heavens had opened all the floodgates and it wouldn't stop raining. The roads were slippery and visibility was poor.
The effort was evident on the faces of the participants. Drivers and co-drivers crossed the finish line exhausted and did not stay longer than necessary for dinner as usual.
Only two hundredths separated the first two teams before the final stage. While in previous years the winner was often already decided on Friday evening and only a serious mistake during the city run was able to influence the results, things are completely different for the anniversary edition. The last four light barriers will determine the winner. So it remains exciting and we are curious to see who will come out on top in the end.
