Practice makes perfect (between Siebnen and Arosa) if you want to grow up one day
Not every rally has 230 participants, like the recently completed Ennstal-Classic. But even the well-known European rally events once started small, for example the Ennstal-Classic 20 years ago with just 35 teams.
In this respect, the Arosa Midsummer Classic Rally Central Switzerland-Arosa, which is being held for the first time, is following a well-trodden path. On June 30, 16 teams set off with their classic cars to drive an entertaining and varied route from Siebnen (in central Switzerland) to Arosa (in Graubünden). Narrow roads and steep gradients pushed some of the vehicles almost to their limits.
In the end, the Iten/Bücherl team won in an Austin Healey Sprite Mk 1 (picture above). In the veterans' category, Junker/Junker came out on top in an MG Kompressor, while Heimgartner/Herger in an Alfa Romeo GTV 2.5 took home victory in the youngtimers' category. Gyger/Bühler in a Volvo PV 544 won the women's category, and next year's edition is already set to follow.
