Expensive goddess and valuable duck in Paris - exceptionally high-priced Citroën DS and 2CV at Artcurial
Even the "Maitre" from Artcurial was (almost) speechless. The bids for the Citroën DS 23 ie Pallas Berline from 1972 went up and up. Well, the previous owner had invested around 100,000 euros in a restoration, but normally you don't get this money back when selling a "goddess", as the DS is also known. The bidding only stopped at 140,000 euros . This is probably a world record for a series-produced DS saloon.
However, those present at the auction were not satisfied with that. When a Citroën 2CV AZAM Berline, i.e. a normal "duck", was called up, the auctioneer remarked that this was a California version and had been practically preserved as a new car (116 miles on the clock) since 1965. This obviously motivated Citroën fans to lose all restraint. The hammer only fell at Euro 50,000, which is probably also a new world record for a normal production duck.
