Die Versteigerung von Hershey hat bereits Tradition. Am 8./9. Oktober 2015 ist es wieder soweit und auch die typische Auswahl hat Tradition, sie ist nämlich stark amerikanisch gefärbt und für einmal nehmen die Vorkriegsfahrzeuge über die Hälfte des Platzes im Katalog ein.
Breites Angebot
Fast 150 Automobile kommen neben einem Schiff, einem Mototrad und einem Monat sowie einigen Automobiilia an zwei Tagen unter den Hammer. Die Fahrzeuge alleine repräsentieren einen Wert von rund USD 19,1 Millionen (Euro 17 Millionen, CHF 18,6 Millionen).
Pro Fahrzeug werden rund 127’000 USD (Euro 113’000, CHF 123’000) erwartet, man bewegt sich also im mittleren Preissegment, zumindest für RM-Verhältnisse.
Exotische Marken
Etwas Besonderes in Hershey sind die vielen unbekannten und vielfach schon lange vergessenen Marken: Cameron, Columbus, Detroit Electric, Essex, Holsman, Jackson, Kelsey, Léon Bollée, Locomobile, Marmon, McLaughlin-Buick, Mercer, Mitchell, Petrel, Roosevelt, Sears, Stearns-Knight, Stevens-Duryea, Stoddard-Dayton, Thomas, Victor, Whippet, White, Wills Sainte Claire oder Winton - dies sind Marken, die nur noch wenigen Leuten wirklich geläufig ist und sicherlich Fahrzeuge abseits des üblichen Auktionsportfolios.
Elektrisch fahren
Gleich drei Elektrofahrzeuge der frühen Automobilsierung sind in Hershey am Start.
Einerseits wird ein nicht unbekannter Detroit Electric Type 19-B Brougham ovn 1919 im Wert von USD 40’000 bis 50’000 angeboten, anderseits sucht ein deutlich rarerer Columbus Eletric von 1903 für USD 100’000 bis 150’000 einen neuen Besitzer.
Zudem kommt noch ein Rauch & lang Eletric Dual Drive Coach von 1920 für USD 50’000 bis 75’000 unter den Hammer.
Auch Sportwagen
Das Gros der Fahrzeuge sind Tourenwagen, doch gibt es auch einige sportliche Modelle der Nachkriegszeit zu erwerben, etwa einen Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8 von 1965, eine Chevrolet Corvette C1 von 1956 oder einen Chevrolet Corvette C2 mit dem gesuchten geteilten Fenster hinten. Sogar ein MG B kann ersteigert werden.
Aber es sind die amerikanischen Raritäten, darunter auch zwei Nash Metropolitan oder ein American Bantam Roadster, die den Reize dieser Versteigerung ausmachen.
