Produced briefly from 1994 to 1995, the Audi RS2 Avant was a groundbreaking collaboration with Porsche and pioneered the very idea of the modern super estate by blending everyday practicality with purpose-built performance. The RS2 was Audi's first RS model and the progenitor of the marque's high-performance model lineage. Based on the Audi 80 Avant, it featured a Porsche-tuned 2.2-liter turbocharged inline-five making 315 PS and 410 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual and quattro all-wheel drive. Capable of zero to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and a 262 km/h top speed according to tests, it was astonishingly quick for its segment. Built at Porsche's Zuffenhausen plant, the RS2 showcased unmistakable Stuttgart influence with Porsche-designed aerodynamics and suspension. Carrera Cup-style wheels, brakes, and side mirrors were lifted from the 964-generation 911 Turbo.
This 1994 Audi RS2 is finished in Volcano Black with a matching Black Nappa leather interior, and optional wood veneer on the doors, center console, and passenger side of the dashboard. The interior shows use commensurate with 384,902 kilometers displayed at cataloging. It is clear that this example has been properly used under prior Switzerland-based ownership and for good reason! Who can resist such a zero-compromise, jack-of-all-trades machine?
Blending Porsche engineering with 1990s luxury and sensible station wagon practicality, this well-enjoyed Audi RS2 Avant makes a compelling and intriguing retro daily driver for any enthusiast of subtle German performance.
