Forty years ago, Porsche presented the Carrera RS 2.7 for the first time in Paris to an astonished but eager-to-buy fan community. Even at Porsche, nobody would have believed that 1,580 of these vehicles would be built, and the sales department even had to be persuaded to sell the car! The road car was joined by a pure racing car, the RSR 2.8, followed a good year later by the two RS/RSR 3.0s with a strong racing design. This report summarizes the development of these two vehicles and compares the different brothers in detail in pictures. The article is supplemented by an original brochure, advertising subjects and lots of historical images.
