Yes, it didn't really take much imagination to envision the future VW Golf II based on this photographed "Erlkönig" in 1983.
In fact, only the rear end was barely covered up, while the front and the silhouette were already pretty close to the production model, which was unveiled at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 1983.
Today, a fan community has also formed around the second generation of the Golf, whereas originally many people had wanted a more progressive and perhaps also more appealing design. They just mourned Giugiaro a little ...
