Would you like a little more of the past?

For our big story about the Honda S2000, I realized that my own archives don't (yet) provide much information about a car that was built between 1999 and 2009. So I went in search of suitable images from other sources, at least for research purposes. This means that I am still a long way from using them for my own purposes, which is of course always a question of the intended use and authorship.
But I was all the more surprised when I discovered that Honda is still making the press kit from 1999 available on its news platform. Not only are the press bulletins from that time still available, but also around 50 pictures and illustrations of the car. In the fast-moving world of cars, 1999 is half an eternity - 27 years! But at Honda, certainly not a manufacturer that has fallen out of time or where such content has simply been forgotten, this past is obviously still being carefully cultivated. It was often said of the Far Eastern manufacturers in particular that it would be relatively difficult to remember old models after a short time.
However, not only the press documents from back then can still be found at Honda, but also many spare parts on the manufacturer's own website. The good thing about this is that all components are shown in clear exploded drawings. This is interesting even if you don't drive a Honda S2000. One can only hope that this service will continue to be operated with the same care and that this example will set a precedent for other brands, where after only 10-15 years you can hardly remember what was under your own brand logo in the showroom.
