A Swiss in California

Sometimes you are simply delighted when old acquaintances reappear. This is the case with the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, chassis "911 460 9053", which was once delivered to amateur racing driver Harry Blumer by Garage Zbinden in Laufen (Switzerland) in 1974. Blumer had visited the factory in Zuffenhausen with his friend Herbert Müller to agree on the specifications. Lime green (code N8) was specified as the color, and the M491 package with optional wheels with central locking was specified for racing.
Harry Blumer drove the Carrera to a Swiss racing car championship title. After his success, he sold the car on to Edi Kofel, who in turn passed it on to Edi Brandenberger about a year later.
With Group 5 body parts and other improvements, and with JVC as a sponsor, Brandenberger succeeded in winning another Swiss championship title in 1977. The following year, the car with Sanyo advertising took part in the championship again, but it was not enough for a third title. The car was then mothballed and sold to a collector in 1986. It changed hands a few more times and was occasionally seen at historic racing events in the USA.
And now it has reappeared, as Gooding Christie's will be auctioning it off on August 15, 2025 in Pebble Beach. It is expected to fetch USD 1.5 to 2 million. We announced the auction earlier.
