The helplessness in the willingness to help

Someone recently asked me another one of those questions that you can either answer with just one word or not even a thousand: "Is it fun?" In this particular case, it was about the Triumph TR4 A I had just got out of, and in my opinion the answer is a simple "yes".
Why else would you keep such a noisy, cramped and smelly rattletrap that does nothing but eat up time, space and money? Or to put it another way: is there any classic car owner who doesn't enjoy their car? Apart from distanced garage gold investors, perhaps.
Of course, the question was meant quite harmlessly. The good man was toying with the idea of buying a TR4 as well. Of course, I support this plan in principle and am happy to advise or help wherever I can. However, a happy owner is perhaps the wrong person to ask this particular question.
That's why I didn't answer it. Instead, I preferred to tell him about the powerful exhaust note, the low seating position, the moderate driving comfort, the completely servo-less operation, the airstream and the unavoidable perfume of petrol, leather and exhaust fumes. But it's up to him to decide whether he enjoys it.
