Today, when every tourist driver has at least one camera installed in their heater and racing cars are also broadcast vehicles, Nürburgring shots from the cockpit are no longer anything special. But in 1958, the driver's perspective was not yet commonplace - especially at race speeds over 200 km/h.
In order to gather impressions for racing enthusiasts but not Porsche fans, Julius Weitmann was once chauffeured around the Nordschleife by Richard von Frankenberg in a 550 Spyder as part of the German Grand Prix. He had just ten minutes and 45 seconds to take the overhead photos he wanted.
