The most famous petrol station in Switzerland

Alongside Bernhard Russi's Olympic gold medal in Sapporo on February 7, 1972, July 9, 1964 is a particularly important day for the mountain community of Andermatt, located at the crossroads of the three passes Gotthard, Furka and Oberalp.
In the third Bond film, 007 agent James Bond and Tilly Masterson both follow the villain Mr. Goldfinger, but for different reasons. When Tilly tries to shoot Mr. Goldfinger to avenge her sister's death, she narrowly misses Bond, who is a few bends down the road, leading to a chase between Bond in his Aston Martin DB5 and Tilly in her Ford Mustang Convertible. This chase has been part of the history of the Furka Pass since the film was shot and features, among other things, the famous Hotel Belvedere on the pass and the village of Realp.
Believing that Tilly is out to get him, Bond uses Q's retractable tire slasher on the DB5 to stop Tilly's Mustang. He then calls it an accident and offers her a ride to the nearest garage. During the short drive, he manages to elicit important information from Tilly. The film sequence ends exactly where it could be filmed again today, namely at the Aurora petrol station and garage in Andermatt, which narrowly escaped being built over years ago.
Recreating this original film set is the mission of the "Aurora Foundation": "We have already done a lot, but there is still a lot to do to make this a perfect destination," explain those responsible.
Thanks to "The Chedi Andermatt Hotel", financed by Samih Sawiris, a 5-star overnight stay has already been arranged for all those who would like to photograph their own Aston Martin classic at the petrol station.
