So, here we are "in 2025"! What we have not been able to complete successfully, we will have to tackle in the new year. It's still winter and the roads are full of salt, and the start of spring still seems a long way off at the beginning of the year, only to unexpectedly appear on our doorstep again - or, to put it more accurately, in front of the garage door. And there is still a lot of work to be done.
That's why I think the season starts at the beginning of the year. Of course, this is not yet the season for riding, but it is the season for organizing. For example, there are lots of events that I have sworn not to miss. These include one of these beach races for hot rods and American cars from the 1920s to 1940s, such as the one on the Danish island of Rømø, see our dates that we have noted for 2025.
This is the place that enjoys the blessing that all the sand that people are struggling to get to or hold onto on the neighboring island of Sylt is washed up on the shore over there. This leads to miles of sandy beaches, which are now very rare and can be accessed by car. The Normandy Beach Race is similar. I'm not sure about the origin of the sand there, but the fact is that I definitely want to take a look in France - sometime in September.
What do you mean, that's still a long way off? Well, that's what I think every year, only to realize once again that the dates just fly by. Or no, I should probably use the word "rush" here. What's more, it's often more than tedious to get things together at the last minute, book hotels and the like or even get parts for the car in question that was actually intended for the trip. Because it's clear that every occasion calls for the right, suitable car and only then does it give you the right feeling. at least that's the ideal - most of the time it turns out differently anyway.
So, this year I want to start the season prepared, that's one of my good intentions for 2025. Whether I succeed remains to be seen. But the goal of making the cars appear to be working, at least in spring, is a good start! I wish you a good start to the new year - sorry - to the new season, which has just begun. There are no more excuses for me!
