Gerhard Berger's stolen Ferrari 512M recovered

At the San Marino GP in Imola in April 1995, Gerhard Berger finished third in his Ferrari behind Michael Schumacher and team-mate Jean Alesi. While he was driving his race, two Ferraris disappeared from what should have been a well-guarded parking lot.
One of the cars belonged to the Austrian and was a 512M. The car had been missing ever since.
Now the British police came across the famous car. In 2023, a prospective US buyer wanted to purchase this car in England and had it brought to Maranello for inspection, where it quickly became clear that this was the car that had been stolen decades ago.
Ferrari itself filed a report with the Metropolitan Police in England in January of this year, who immediately picked up the trail. Apparently, the car ended up in Japan after the involuntary change of ownership and only returned to Europe in 2023. After 29 years, the car was finally recovered by the Met. However, no arrests have yet been made and the investigation is still ongoing.
However, the second Ferrari stolen at the time remains missing. The Ferrari 512M, the "M" stands for Modificata, which is now worth around EUR 400,000, was the final version of the legendary Testarossa. Only 501 of these cars were built in the two years of production. The picture above is of another vehicle of the same type and is only used to illustrate the article.
